Frequently Asked Questions

The average preparation and dispatch time for an order is 3 to 5 days. Each wool felt toy is made to order by me.

Atelier Petites Formes wool felt toys cannot be returned or exchanged after the legal 14-day cooling-off period. These are toys for babies and children, so for reasons of hygiene it is not possible to extend this period.

Atelier Petites Formes items are shipped worldwide.

The toys are sewn, embroidered and felted by hand. The seams are strong thanks to the high quality of the thick woollen felt and the hand stitch used, known as "festoon stitch".

Atelier Petites Formes pure wool felt toys are not machine washable.

Wool is naturally anti-parasitic and anti-fungal. Atelier Petites Formes toys do not require any special cleaning except in case of great necessity. here

No, the wool in Atelier Petites Formes toys does not sting. Felt toys have a soft feel because the wool used is merino wool.

Your baby will have a reflex to put in mouth This is normal, and Atelier Petites Formes felt toys are no exception. However, wool is not a pleasant material to chew, and the toy won't get chewed or sucked.

In terms of safety: everything is made of wool and the wool fibres are non-toxic if they come loose from the fabric. Then the seams are strong and the natural wool padding is well protected inside.
The quality of the felting, the harmlessness of the material (wool felt toys certified Oeko-Tex 100 and complying with European toy standards EN-71) and the quality of the stitching make the figurine solid and safe.

The pure wool felts I use are certified Oeko Tex Standard 100 (this label essentially concerns textile dyes, which guarantee that they are non-toxic/non-harmful). The felts also comply with European toy standards UNE EN 71 and 72. These two certifications were carried out by my Dutch supplier. I can ask him for the certificate if you wish.

The toys are hand-sewn and embroidered by myself. They are solid, high-quality creations. Of course, as with all toys, a baby or child playing must always be supervised by an adult.

One of my toys was mistakenly put in a 30-speed machine with 1000 revolutions and it became very deformed. My felt manufacturer recommends not washing felt.

It's important to remember that wool doesn't retain odours or dust, so all you need to do for routine maintenance is shake the toy or pat it gently. Let it breathe through the window. Wool is not mite-friendly either: it is naturally anti-parasitic and anti-fungal.
